Brook Eden Vineyard – cool climate wine from Tasmania - About Us

Brook Eden vineyard in North East Tasmania is the culmination of a five year search for a vineyard site capable of producing truly exquisite, cool-climate still and sparkling wines. There are only a few such places in Australia.

Established in 1988 on the banks of Pipers Brook in northeast Tasmania, Brook Eden is nestled in a picturesque valley of rolling green hills. The vineyards are sited along an ancient ridge of deep, gravelly, well-drained, volcanic soil, which runs down to Pipers Brook on one side of the ridge and a spring-fed, native wetland on the other.

At 41º South, and the start of the famed roaring forties, Brook Eden is true, cool-climate viticulture. The crisp air of the Southern Ocean, acknowledged as the cleanest in the world, tempers the heat of summer days and provides cool nights. This Southern latitude produces extended sunshine hours per day in summer and our cool, sometimes wind-swept site dictates that our old, non-irrigated vines must struggle a little as they slowly ripen their fruit during a growing season which is one of the longest in Australia.

This long slow ripening produces fruit with exceptional flavour and aroma and an ideal balance of sugar and acid.

This exceptional fruit structure is the key to making elegant, aromatic wines with intense varietal flavours and distinct regional characteristics. What the French call Terroir.

Our family-owned, hand-tended vineyard is dedicated to producing wines with exceptional flavour and the distinctive cool-climate characteristics of this, the finest and oldest wine producing area of Tasmania.

Our cellar door offers tasting and sales of award winning Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir a lively Rosato, Sparkling and Pinot Gris.

Everything we make is pure enjoyment
